Simone Verdi leaves Eibar looking for minutes

Simone Verdi has today formalised his departure from SD Eibar at his own request as he looks for more playing time than he has enjoyed with the Gunsmiths in recent months.

Verdi arrived at Eibar on loan from AC Milan and has played in nine league games (starting in three of them) and four King's Cup games (starting in all four).  In the return game of the tie against Ponferradina he scored one of the goals in the 4-0 comeback from the three goal deficit of the first leg.

Verdi has wanted to say goodbye with the following message:

“At the moment of my departure from SD Eibar, I would like to express my thanks to the Club, especially my teammates and the coaching staff, for all the support and companionship they have shown me.

I would also like to thank the Eibar fans for all their support and affection during these months.  For me, playing at Ipurua has been thrilling and I am going with great memories that I will never forget.

Taking the decision to leave has been really difficult, but at this stage of my career I need to play more minutes and this is the reason why I’m going.

I hope and desire that the team stays-up without problems and can aspire to achieving greater things.

I hope this isn’t a goodbye but rather a “see you later” and that our paths cross again in the future.

My best wishes to everyone”
