REPORT. Jon Bautista's brace gives Eibar the win (0-2)
The Armeros reclaim second place after a great match in Andorra
Jon Bautista's two second-half goals secured a 2-0 win for Eibar against Andorra after a great performance from the Armeros that saw them regain second place in La Liga Hypermotion.
At the fourth time of asking, Eibar managed to beat the team from the Principality, a team that denied the Armeros in the last three outings across this season and last.
Eibar's start to the match was lightning fast, with a direct and ambitious game plan that saw them create clear chances from the very beginning. As early as the 2nd minute, Berrocal came close to firing home from a Matheus free kick, and in the 5th minute, an individual move by Corpas almost resulted in a goal.
Etxeberria's team were clearly dominating the game and deserved to score, but they lacked accuracy in front of goal and that meant the game remained level. Corpas tested Ratti again in the 28th minute with a right-footed shot that was cleared by the Andorra goalkeeper. The Armeros were unable to break the deadlock in the first half.
The second half started with a more ambitious Andorra, who came close to scoring after just 20 seconds with a clear-cut chance from Karrikaburu.
However, it was Eibar who took the lead in the 52nd minute with a right-footed finish from an outstretched Jon Bautista following a great pass from Cristian on the left.
After a scare following a penalty awarded against Eibar that was overturned by the referee after consulting with VAR, it was 0-2 in the 72nd minute, again with Jon Bautista on target. He fired home a Corpas cross following a long throw from Luca.
Bautista's fourteenth goal gave Eibar peace of mind as they held their nerve until the end of the game and picked up a vital three points that puts them second in the table, with the same points tally as Espanyol and Valladolid.
