REPORT: An injury-time goal defeats numerically inferior Eibar

Berrocal's red card in the 41st minute set the tone for the rest of the game

A Villarreal goal from a corner kick in stoppage time meant a 1-0 defeat for Eibar, who were reduced to ten men from the 41st minute due to Berrocal's sending off.

Eibar dominated the early stages, with continuous ball recoveries and attacks. In the 3rd minute, Jon Bautista came close to scoring, but his right-footed shot hit the side netting.

In the 31st minute, Stoichkov scored from Aketxe's pass, but the goal was disallowed for a slight offside. Prior to that, Luca had to be at his best to save Ontiveros' shot from his own half, which was heading just under the bar.

Eibar were in the ascendancy, but things took a turn for the worse in the 41st minute, when Juan Berrocal was sent off with a straight red card after Diego Collado had made a solo run towards goal.

With the numerical superiority, Villarreal B started to dominate the game, while Eibar tried to survive with ten men, while also attempting to counter-attack.

With the game almost over, Fores bundled home after a corner, and the goal saw ten-man Eibar’s enormous effort come up just short.
