Recovery and important point for the women’s team against San Ignacio
The gunsmiths levelled a game that they were losing 0-2 in the second half
The game was tight at the start, but as it progressed San Ignacio started to take control. In spite of this, the break arrived with the score at 0-0 after few clear scoring opportunities.
Straight after the re-start, in the 2nd minute San Ignacio went ahead from a well executed counter attack. Shortly after, the armeras’ keeper conceded a penalty that she took upon herself to save, but the rebound fell to the penalty taker, who made the score 0-2.
The minutes passed and San Ignacio continued to dominate the encounter until a move where Irati Lazkano, the home side’s striker, dribbled the ball past the visiting keeper, shot at the goal and with the ball about to cross the line a rival defender stopped it with her hand. A red card and a penalty, that Melani converted to put 1-2 on the scoreboard.
Despite playing with one player less, San Ignacio still wanted to control the game, until Melani stole the ball in the centre of the pitch, looked up, and seeing the goalkeeper was off her line, hit a powerful shot from the middle of the field and scored.
In the final minutes of the match there were occasions for both teams but none of them were clear and the game ended with a result of 2-2.
With this new point, the Eibar's women's team is in ninth position with 17 points and moves another point away from the relegation positions, since the teams that occupy these places lost their respective matches.
