Pedro León: If we perform to a high standard, we can make Real Madrid's life difficult
The Eibar man has emerged victorious in games against Real Madrid during his spells at Valladolid and Getafe
Speaking today in a press conference held at Ipurua, Pedro León insisted that Eibar are, "on top form" and that "if we perform to a high standard, we can make Real Madrid's life difficult".
"We know that victories are the only thing that are any good to Madrid and all the more so when they play at home. Yesterday's result wasn't a good one for them, but we're aware that even if they don't perform, they can still capable of easily beating you. They'll be coming here to get the three points".
In reference to his own displays, the Murcia-born midfielder stated that he is, "happy, I'm feeling good and can't wait for the game to come round and try to help us get a good result".
"We've competed in every game this season and we did so at the Bernabéu too (where Eibar held the Madrilenians to a 1-1 stalemate). We've performed well in all of our home games. If we perform to a high standard, we can make Real Madrid's life difficult. We must recognise that they're the favourites because they're one of the best sides in the world".
León went on to reflect on the two occasions in which he was part of sides which overcame Real Madrid, during his spells at Valladolid and Getafe. "We'll have to put in a very disciplined display and be at our best and hope that they have an off day. We've played well in most of our home games and have competed well".
"Whenever I came here as a visiting player, I knew that Ipurua was a difficult place to come, given how the fans and the team get on top of you. Let's hope that's how things go on Saturday and that they don't feel comfortable here. They have weapons at their disposal which are beyond us with our budget, but in these games, you forget all about that. It's really special when you beat a side of such standing".
"We're sitting in seventh, three points off sixth spot. We've been playing the same all season and have been really consistent. "We're having a really great year and we hope to continue on in this vein, remain up there in the table and see where we end up come the end of the campaign".
