Mikel Arruabarrena will play on loan at SD Huesca until June 2016
The Eibar attacking midfielder will return to the Gunsmiths’ ranks after his spell in Huesca
SD Eibar and SD Huesca have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Gunsmiths’ attacking midfielder Mikel Arruabarrena until June 2016.
Mikel Arruabarrena (Tolosa, 1983) was the first captain of Eibar although this season he has only worn the captain’s armband in two cup matches, having not been in the starting line-up in a single league game.
The Tolosa player was playing his sixth season at SD Eibar, where he arrived in 2009 when the team was in the Second Division B, although in the 2010-2011 season he played on loan at Leganés.
Arruabarrena was one of the protagonists of Eibar’s consecutive promotions from the Second Division B to the Second Division and from the Second to the First Division between 2012 and 2014. In the season of the debut of both Eibar and Arruabarrena in the First Division, the new Huesca player was the top scorer for his team with a total of nine goals.
This season he has only played 57 minutes in 5 games, in the first of which, in the first league game of the season in Granada, he also scored. He has also played two games in the cup against Ponferradina and was the scorer of the goal that completed the Gunsmiths’ comeback in the second leg against the team from Leon.
With ten goals in the top flight, Arruabarrena is the second highest scorer in the short history of Eibar in the First Division, behind Borja Bastón, who has scored fourteen goals this season so far.
Mikel Arruabarrena has a contract with SD Eibar until June 2016, automatically renewable for one more season in the event that the Eibar stay in the First Division.
