Mendilibar: Valencia could arrive under pressure because their objectives are very different from the place they are in now

The only confirmed absence for Eibar will be Eddy Silvestre, injured

José Luis Mendilibar, the manager of SD Eibar, said today in a press conference that their rival this Sunday in Ipurua, Valencia CF, could arrive «under the screw» «because their objectives are very different from where they are now» in the table.

Mendilibar will name the squad for the game tomorrow and in principal it is expected to include players such as Dani García, Gonzalo Escalante or Borja Bastón, who this week have been recovering from different injuries.

«We play every game to win and in the last three we have lost. That says something and we have to fix what has been going wrong», said Mendilibar in reference to the league defeats against Real Madrid and Real Sociedad and the loss in the King’s Cup game against SD Ponferradina.

He said his team had to improve in aspects such as «wanting to get up field and creating chances to score, something that we have lost a little. Our philosophy is to not accept the scoreline we have at any time and to go for more».

«We know we have had a bad week with three defeats. Against Valencia we have to go into the game thinking that we’re the little team but we can win, although it won’t be easy because we’re playing against a quality side», he added.

Regarding the accumulation during the last few weeks of players who are injured or have physical problems, Mendilibar said that «every team has players who are injured and it's something that we are going to have throughout the year». «I prefer that a player gets an injury or is tired in the 75th minute, because they are training hard and give everything in training and during the games», he stressed.
