Garitano: “The team is confident and has an enormous desire to play and win”
The Eibar head coach has admitted that his side “have to push more to try to polish the small details that caused us to lose the other day”
Gaizka Garitano has made it clear that his side are “confident, possessing an enormous desire to play and win.”
In the press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Lugo at Estadio Anxo Carro, the Eibar head coach has said that “when you lose, you have to push more to try to polish the small details that caused us to lose the other day.”
GETTING BACK TO WINNING WAYS
“In football, you have to move on quickly, but when you win, there is no time to celebrate, either. We are thinking of the next game. The other day, we had to lose, it’s not normal to go so many months without losing. A game like the one the other day is always going to come, where suddenly you start and in the first two opportunities they score. We want to get back to winning as soon as possible to get that bad taste out of our mouths, but this happens to all teams, and now it is up to us to go to Lugo and try to win the game. The start of the game could be important. We have to try to start the game well. If we do the things we usually do, we are always going to be close to winning.”
STRENGTH IN AREAS
“It’s a long season and everyone has dips in results. We have had pressure since the beginning. Each time we have less and everyone needs to win. In the recent games, we have been fine in the build-up, but in football, what counts is what you do in the areas, and we were bad in both. We know that we have to improve there, and then continue with the good things we do as a team. In the two games, there have been lots of things, in the play, in the build-up, in dominating, getting into the box. In that, the team hasn’t lost anything compared to when we were winning, quite the opposite, but you have to be strong in the areas.”
CONFIDENCE
“The team is confident, training well, and they know what they have to do, what they have to show. For a year and a half, we have played the same and things have gone well, so we have to continue. We have no doubt about that. When you lose, you have to push more and try to polish these small details that caused us to lose the other day, and we have to continue moving forward. Emotionally, we are very high and with an enormous desire to play and get back to winning ways.”
LUGO
“We never usually relax at all when we see an opposing team on a bad run because we think that they could snap out of it at any moment. We respect all our rivals, and Lugo, of course, always have very fine margins with few goals and very close games. It’s a rival that has conceded very few goals at home, it’s a team very difficult to break, though it’s true that it has been difficult for them to score goals. The difficulty is there, as it is in all games.”
“They have changed things, including their style of play, and they have changed players. They have had two games with the new coach, and you always have to be attentive to these new things, the variants. We will try to put together a good game, to win and to continue with the run of victories that we had before the last 15 days.”
