Eibar lose 3-0 to Atlético Madrid
The goal scored by Atlético in the 3rd minute added to the difficulty of the match
Eibar lost 3-0 against Atlético Madrid at the Wanda Alcalá de Henares in a match that started with a goal when not even the first five minutes of the match had elapsed and that ended with a third strike practically with the final kick of the game.
Eibar's defensive wall cleared the ball to end several of Atlético Madrid's chances in the opening stages of the game. The Armeros found it more difficult to press forward, with the Colchoneros defending everything in the chances that Eibar had.
In the 26th minute, a shot from the home side was blocked by a low save from Miralles. The goalkeeper had to intervene on more occasions than the Eibar side would have liked, and she passed with flying colors despite the early goal.
In both the first and second halves, Atlético Madrid were dominant, but on most occasions they failed to convert the chances they did have. Once again, Eibar were strong defensively.
Eva Navarro scored the second goal of the game in the 70th minute to give the home side a boost after a less attack-minded first part of the second half. Eibar responded with strength and did not give the game up for lost. Finally, a very confident Atlético Madrid came close to the opponent's goal on several occasions and managed to score a third goal in the final seconds of the match.
Eibar will have a week to prepare for their next match, against one of their direct rivals in the standings, Sporting Huelva. The game will be played in front of Eibar’s home fans on Saturday, November 18 at Ipurua, at 18:30 CET.
