Construction work on Ipurua's East Stand progressing well
The new stand is set to be completed by January 2017
The construction work being carried out on the East Stand at Ipurua is progressing well and is scheduled to be completed by January 2017.
During the course of this week, the pre-fabricated pillars, which will support the stand, are set to be installed.
The new stand will boast four entry and exit points (compared to the previous two), which will speed up the evacuation process in the event of an emergency.
In addition, the pillars which obscured spectators' views will be removed. There will also be an area for those with reduced mobility, which will be accessible via a lift.
Once completed, the new stand will increase the stadium's capacity to 7,100.
